Stapled booklets printing

Why choose stapled booklets printing?

Stapled binding, also known as saddle stitch, is a traditional and popular binding method for booklets, magazines and brochures as it affordable and produces a professional finish. Saddle stitch booklets and brochures are ideal for a wide range of uses: create a programme for your event, provide information on your company or a particular product, keep your customers or employees up to date with a newsletter – make the best impression with Pixartprinting’s stapled booklets. Take control of your branding with our variety of customisation options.

Elegant, refined and practical, stapled binding is without a doubt one of the most economical choices for producing booklets and magazines. This binding method involves applying two metal staples along the spine of the document, making the final product easy to browse through while also maintaining a clean, professional appearance. The staples are discreet and barely visible, yet they provide excellent durability over time.

Stapled binding is particularly suitable when the publication has a limited number of pages and when you want to keep the thickness of your print slim. It is a popular choice for instruction booklets, informational brochures, event programmes, newsletters, small product catalogues and promotional materials with a shorter lifecycle. For more durable products intended for long-term use, perfect binding is often preferred.

The advantages of stapled binding

  • Affordable printing – a highly cost-effective solution for booklets, brochures and magazines.
  • Fast turnaround – ideal for producing printed publications quickly and efficiently.
  • Professional finish – despite its affordability, stapled binding provides a refined and reliable final result.
  • Easy to browse – the booklet opens comfortably, making it practical to read and use.
  • Perfect for short publications – suitable for documents with a low page count, starting from as little as 8 pages.

Customising stapled booklets

Our online ordering process helps you chose a fully personalised product to reflect your business as you want. Here are some of the options you have to choose from:

  • Closed size - choose your own custom format or one of our pre-defined options: A5, A4, 16.5 x 24 cm, 21x21 cm.
  • Orientation – either portrait or landscape.
  • Paper types – there are classic options or deluxe papers available. Our classic papers are Classic Demimatt – Matt Coated and Classic Gloss – Gloss Coated, which are both wood free and long-lasting with a silky sheen. Whilst our deluxe papers include: Extraprint, with a brilliant white, smooth, velvety surface; Rembrandt, which is embossed with fine lines; Turner, for an orange peel texture; Underwood for that recycled feel that adds character; Ice White to create impact; or recycled to tick the eco box.
  • Paper weight – there are different weights available depending on the paper type chosen.
  • Cover page paper – a range of papers are also available for the cover: Classic Demimatt – Matt Laminated, Pearl Paper, Extraprint, Rembrandt, Turner, Underwood, Ice White and Recycled.
  • Lamination – depending on the paper chosen, there may be lamination options available such as Matt, Gloss or Soft Touch.

The new stapled binding options offered by Pixartprinting allow binding up to 100 pages per document, depending on the paper weight and the orientation selected. The minimum number of pages printable with stapled binding is 8, while the maximum can go up to 100 according to the chosen configuration.

The number of pages printable with stapled binding depends on the specific configuration of the current quote, particularly the selected paper weight and orientation of the format.

Available paper options for inner pages

You can choose the type of paper that best suits your needs. In addition to the options already listed above, the stapled binding range also includes:

  • Classic Demimatt - Matt Coated – an ideal solution to combine affordability and high print quality.
  • Classic Gloss - Gloss Coated – a high-shine material for bright and vibrant colours.
  • Classic Uncoated - Brilliant White Uncoated – natural uncoated white paper, wood-free and durable, particularly suitable for letterheads and the inner pages of books.
  • Extraprint - Brilliant White Smooth Uncoated – a very high-quality paper capable of producing high-definition prints with faithful details and realistic colours.
  • Rembrandt - Stipple Textured Uncoated – laid paper with a surface crossed by fine embossed lines, ideal for elegant printed products.
  • Turner - Orange Peel Texture – felt-marked paper with a distinctive orange peel effect.
  • Underwood - Woodstock Birch – ivory-coloured paper with surface irregularities that give it a distinctive appearance.
  • Ice White - Brilliant with Uncoated Linen Finish – embossed paper with a high whiteness level, ideal for premium prints.
  • Recycled – paper made from 100% recycled fibres.

Cover and lamination options

You can give the cover of your products the look you want by selecting the most suitable material. The cover can be produced using the same paper as the inner pages, or with a different paper and thickness, depending on the effect you wish to achieve.

Additionally, you can make the cover of your stapled booklets more durable through lamination. Although stapled binding allows for affordable and simple magazines, lamination can add a more sophisticated touch while also protecting the product from scratches and signs of wear. Soft Touch lamination creates a velvety feel, enhances colours and gives magazines and catalogues a refined appearance.

Lamination is available for both the cover and the inner pages, but its application depends on the number of pages, the paper weight and the type of paper selected. These factors are assessed during the quotation phase.

  • Cover lamination – if the cover is made with Classic Demimatt – Matt Coated paper, two lamination options are available: Matt or Soft Touch.
  • Cover lamination – if the cover is made with Classic Gloss – Gloss Coated paper, the available lamination option is Gloss.
  • Inner page lamination – for the inner pages, three types may be available: Matt, Gloss and Soft Touch, depending on the chosen configuration.

For heavier paper thicknesses, we recommend adding lamination, as it helps protect the product from cracks or crease marks along the spine, especially with stapled binding. Lamination also improves durability and gives the printed product a more elegant and professional appearance.

  • Minimum vector stroke thickness – 0.25 pt.

How does stapled binding differ from other binding techniques?

Stapled binding is a practical and cost-effective solution for booklets, brochures and magazines with a small number of pages. Compared to Wiro binding, which allows the document to open up to 360° and is often chosen for manuals and notebooks, stapled binding offers a more compact and refined appearance, ideal for promotional materials and lightweight catalogues.

Unlike perfect binding, where the pages are glued along the spine for greater durability, stapled binding is faster and more economical, although it is recommended only for publications with a smaller number of pages. Another alternative is sewn binding, which ensures maximum durability by stitching the pages before gluing. While this technique is ideal for books and materials intended for prolonged use, it is more expensive and usually involves longer production times compared to stapled binding.

If you are looking for a professional yet affordable binding solution for catalogues, magazines and short-run booklets, stapled binding is an excellent choice. For more specific needs, such as books or long-lasting publications, alternatives like perfect binding or sewn binding may be more suitable.
